A smart card resembles a charge card in shape and size, but inside it's totally different. For starters, there's an inside -- a standard credit card is a straightforward piece of plastic. The inside of a brilliant card usually contains an embedded microprocessor.

The microprocessor is with a gold contact pad on the one hand with the card. Think of the microprocessor as replacing the standard magnetic stripe on a card or bank card.

Smart cards are much very popular in Europe than in the United States. In Europe, the health insurance and banking industries use smart cards extensively. Every German citizen includes a smart card for health care insurance. Despite the fact that smart cards have been about within their modern form for at least a decade, they may be just beginning to take off in the United States.
